Somerville stymies Pburg
Those red hot Pburg bats were coming off back to back games scoring double digit runs. Just in time for their first game against Somerville in years. The Stateliners would send Diefen-K to the mound but on a limited pitch count with an important conference game later in the week. A quick scoreless inning brought Pburg to the plate. With one out Farmer Ray reached on an error, El Morro walked, and Billy Billy walked to load the bases. The effectively wild Somerville pitcher would get out of the jam unscathed. Diefen-pitchcount would throw three and a third scoreless innings before handing off the ball to Baby Rick. Not much action to speak of until the top of the sixth when Somerville would strike for a run and then a bloop and some defensive miscues turned a tight 0-0 game into a 4-0 deficit. Somerville would tack on a run in the seventh and win 5-0. Baby Rick and Diefen-dude pitched well but didn't get much to show for it. On to Del Val.
