Diefenbach dominates as Liners win

Diefen-K was at it again in his second start of the year at Stroudsburg. With the exception of superstar Ben Stokes (4-4 3 doubles), the Phillipsburg pitcher cruised up and down the Stroudsburg lineup to the tune of 11 Ks and 1 earned run. Farmer Ray opened up the game with a single and a stolen base and scored the first of his three runs on a Big Boy Billy RBI single. On yet another frigid day, Pburg chipped away throughout the game with a balanced attack. Jackie Stags had a clutch two RBI single in the third and Pburg tacked on 3 more on an error and some walks in the 6th to take a 6-1 lead. There wasn't much doubt but even if there was it was all erased on El Morro's two out, 2 RBI double in the seventh to stretch the lead to 8-1. With a 7 run cushion, the Lamanator came in to finish the game. He too tried to tame the amazing Ben Stokes (he really is amazing, he's 6-8 with 3 doubles in the last two years) but the powerful junior lefty hit the ball off the wall instead. Laman got a pop up and strikeout to end the game. Another solid overall team effort put the Stateliners at 2-2. Next up for the Liners is another trip North, this time to Mount Olive.
