Phillipsburg looking for respect after more change
Conference: Skyland, Rarity Division
2015 record: 6-18 overall, 1-7 league
Players to watch: Sr. CF Tyler Mitchell, Sr. P Colton Langworthy, Jr. SS Tom Mandry, Jr. RF Dean Mangiola, Sr. P Chris Lilly.
Outlook: On their third coach in three seasons, the Stateliners will be looking to work through some growing pains and inexperience. New head coach Dylan Sapir had never seen several of his players in action before March, so a scrimmage-heavy preseason helped make up for lost time. P’burg could be strong defensively but is looking for pitching depth behind Langworthy and to improve an offense that struggled last year.
From coach Dylan Sapir: “It’s no secret that we’ve struggled over the last few years. We have a mix of seniors, juniors, and sophomores that will all get playing time. The team is working hard to be more competitive than previous years. While we won’t give you a specific number of wins, we expect show improvement throughout the year.”
